This document covers the parts of the service detail page that every BLOX NXT service type shares: the page layout, General Settings, Custom Properties, and Email Notifications. Configuration settings differ by service type and are covered in each service type's own document.
Service detail page layout (all service types)
Opening a service from Community > Services shows its detail page. Changes aren't saved until you click Save Changes in the top right (or Create Service on a new service).
Header: the service type icon, a Return to search results link, the service name, its flags (Live, Disabled, Test, Hidden), and a service type badge.
Left side, Service Settings panel: the Service ID with a copy button, then three collapsible sections: General Settings (open by default), Configuration, and Custom Properties.
Right side: Email Notifications on every service type, plus one type-specific panel: Purchase Rates (Subscription services), Domain Management (Domain services), or File Upload (Delimited Verification services).
General Settings (all service types)
General Settings has the same fields on every service type.
Service settings
| Setting |
What it does |
| Service Name |
The name shown in the admin and to readers |
| Notification Email |
Up to three email addresses, separated by commas, that receive administrator notices for this service, such as new subscriptions and changes to a Delimited Verification file |
| Service Description |
What the service offers, shown to readers. Supports bold, italic, underline, and bulleted and numbered lists. A bulleted list of benefits (for example, unlimited articles, the e-Edition, puzzles) works well. |
| Allow Linked Accounts |
Lets subscribers share their subscription with family and friends. Only available when Linked Accounts is enabled in the legacy BLOX admin (Community > Subscription > application settings > Linked Accounts). |
| Require Delivery Address |
Requires a delivery address for every subscriber. For Delimited Verification services, accounts without a delivery address in the uploaded file aren't activated. |
| Service Disabled |
Turns the service off so readers can no longer buy or renew it; shows the Disabled (red) flag |
| Hide from Public |
Keeps the service active, and content it protects stays protected, but readers can't see or sign up for it on your site; shows the Hidden (yellow) flag |
| Testing Mode |
Marks every transaction as a test and runs it through the payment handler's test processor, so no money is charged; shows the Test (blue) flag |
Custom Properties (all service types)
Custom properties add metadata to a service as key-value pairs, storing extra configuration that your site's templates or integrations can read. A new service has none.
To add a custom property to a service:
Open the service and expand Custom Properties in the Service Settings panel.
Click Add Custom Property.
Enter the property's key and value.
Click Save Changes at the top of the page.
Newzware and Vision Data services get an auto_bind custom property set to 1 automatically when saved. Leave it in place.
Email Notifications (all service types)
The Email Notifications panel on each service lets you turn each email on or off, and view and edit its wording. Notices are grouped into Subscriber Messaging (sent to the reader) and Admin Notifications (sent to the service's Notification Email). Notices a service type doesn't support are grayed out. Admin notifications need a Notification Email in General Settings, or there's nowhere to send them.
