NOTE: This document assumes that offers and pricing reside on your hub site, but your paywall rules reside on the spoke site.
How to update an offer:
Set up the Rate on the hub
- If the rate doesn’t exist, it must be created first. Otherwise, verify the duration and renewal details
- Optional: Verify or create a promo code if needed
Modify the Offer on the hub’s shop page
- In Access Control, identify the offer group for the subscribe page you want to edit.
- Select the page from the Access Control Dashboard, then click Edit next to the Access Offer Group OR, click the gear on the upper right, click Access Offer Groups, and double click the group you want to edit.
- Control the text on the top of the shop page with the Paywall Headline field.
- Click the offers tab to modify wall text and pricing. You can either update an existing offer or create a new one..
- To edit an existing one, double click the offer you want to tweak.
- If you want to create a new one: In the Offers tab, click New > Start with a Rate
- Select the Service and Rate you verified or created in No. 1
- Optional: choose a promo code
- On the next screen, you’ll see the Offer Builder panel, starting with the General tab.
- Title, Rate and Limits are required fields. All others are optional.
- Check your spelling and general sizing on the Preview tab. NOTE: The preview display and screenshots in this document are approximations. Fonts, colors, look and feel will be different on your live site.
- Once you’re finished, click Create or Update.
- If you created a new one, the Offer you just created will show on a new line within the Offers window.
- If you updated, you’ll be returned back to the offer group window.
- Select and drag the offers to reorder how they display on the front end.
- The offer on top will display on the left. Google NCI recommends that the most expensive package should be on the left, with the highlighted “Best Value” package in the middle.
- To take an offer down, click it and Switch Status to turn it off and use it again later, or Remove to delete it.
- IMPORTANT: Save and Close.
- To verify your changes, navigate to the landing page and use a cache buster by appending nonsense to the end of the URL: hub.example.com/subscribe/simcoe?hi_=34t3

Change the offer on the paywall

- Double-click the rule from the Access Control Dashboard, then click Edit next to the Access Offer Group OR, click the gear on the upper right, click Access Offer Groups, and double click the group you want to edit.
- Control the text in the black box of the paywall with the Paywall Headline field.
- Same with the wall: click the offers tab to modify wall text and pricing. You can either update an existing offer or create a new one.
- To edit an existing offer, double click the offer you want to adjust.
- If you want to create a new one: In the Offers tab, click New > Manual offer (use a link) - instead of Start with a Rate.
- On the next screen, you’ll see the Offer Builder panel, starting with the General tab.
- Although you could use the same text on the paywall as the shop page, we recommend customizing the paywall text to the user group. For example:
- Paywall Headline: THIS ARTICLE IS EXCLUSIVE TO SUBSCRIBERS.
- Rate: Get Ready for Spring Sale: Stay Informed for Less!
- Limits: Less than $0.70/week for 12 months. Offer ends March 31, 2023.
- Billing cycle: Cancel anytime
- Button text: Subscribe Now
- Although you could use the same text on the paywall as the shop page, we recommend customizing the paywall text to the user group. For example:
- On the Targeting tab, paste in the URL of the landing page you modified in part 1. See below for a reference of landing page URLs.
- Once you’re finished, click Create or Update.
- The Offer you just created will show on a new line within the Offers window.
- BEST PRACTICE: Limit to ONE offer on the paywall. Disable or remove other offers.
- IMPORTANT: Save and Close.
- On the daily site in Access Control, identify the offer group for the paywall.
