What is metering?
Metered Subscription lets you set a specific number of article views before the user is required to log in (register) and/or a specific number of article views before the user is required to subscribe to a service. The meter counts each article individually so a user who has already been allowed to view one article can view that article as many times as they desire. A Payment Handler is also required to use this service which will process credit card transactions.
Below is an illustration showing a metering setup where there are five free article views and five article views after registering.
A metering message will appear above the title on the article page. As users continue to view different articles, the metering message will change, which the customer can use our default messages or provide custom ones.
Metering affects all users on the site, and affects all services. You can set Metering on a specific section or sections at the URL level by using the Page Customizations / Paywall properties for that URL.
Please know that while the metering system "allows" setting a number of Free Article Views (before registration) to a small number, five is the recommended minimum.
How to setup metering
