This is a Flex block that allows customers to append a sticky promotion at the bottom or top of our homepage so that our readers can easily see important updates such as upcoming events, important stories, limited time offers, etc.
To use this Block, search in the Static (no assets) section and search for Utility: Promotional Sticky Footer. This block must be placed in the footer region in the BLOX Editor.
This acts as a Sticky Footer, or a Sticky Promotional Banner that will either slide up from the bottom of the page or slide down from the top of the page. This is a great way to share promotional offers, important stories, events, etc. without talking up valuable screen real-estate.
You will be able to customize almost every part of this block, including its title, sub text, images, background color, font colors, button colors, button size, dismiss button color, and how long it takes for the promo to slide-in and display after the page loads. It also supports DMP/Audience hiding and showing.
How do I customize the sticky footer block?
This block features four sections to customize in the Appearance tab: Content, Button, Block, and Layout.
This property will change the “main heading“ in the footer.
- Promotion image: This property adds the uploaded photo to the left side of the “Block title“.
- Content sub text: This property adds the “sub heading“ to the sticky footer.
- Content sub text color: This property changes the “Content sub text” font color to whatever is chosen.
- Block content link: This property adds allows the “Block title” and “Content sub text” to be a clickable link with whatever URL is inputted here. The link will open in a new tab.
- Button text: This property will change the text written inside of the button. It’s recommended to keep the text in here short.
- Button link: This property changes the URL that opens once the button is clicked. The URL will open in another tab.
- Button color: This property will change the background color of the button.
- Button size: This property will change the size of the button. The sizes here are Extra small , Small , and Large.
- Button text color: This property will change the color of the text inside the button to whatever is chosen.
- Block title emphasis: This property will change the heading type for the "Block title", which may impact size, style and SEO value.
- Background color: This property changes the color of the sticky footer banner itself.
- Block title text color: This property changes the text color of the “Block title“.
- Dismiss button color: This property changes the color of the x dismiss button to whatever is chosen.
- Time to display in seconds: This property will change how long the “Sticky Footer Promo” takes to “slide up“ or appear on the screen. By default it takes 3 seconds.
- Position: This property changes the sticky footer to either be on the top or bottom of the screen.
- This block can be used multiple times. Each sticky footer will have its own settings that will be unique to each instance of it.
- Each dismissal of the block is also unique, so one promo being dismissed won’t affect others.
- Each will also have its own “clock“. So that way the 24 timer starts once that specific block is dismissed.
- The z-index of this block is 1000, so it will appear over all the content except for the Sticky Anchor Utility region.
- You can find this setting under the Utility regions → All Pages → Sticky Anchor.
- It will overlap this sticky footer, since ads can be placed inside the Sticky Anchor region we don't want to cover those up.
