Digital Rights Management (DRM) is a systematic approach to copyright protection for digital media to prevent unauthorized redistribution of digital media. Outgoing DRM policies can be setup to setup restrictions on the content that can be sent from your site. Outgoing DRM policy restrictions are currently only available to sites partners involved with our TownNews Content Exchange Network program. Each Outgoing DRM policy must have at least one Site and Section tag.
To create a new outgoing DRM policy, select +Add within the toolbar. This will populate the Edit DRM policy window.
Name: Give a meaningful name to the policy.
Disabled: Select Disable to prevent the policy from being active.
Rules
The Rules tab is where rules can be set pertaining to how content is syndicated out of your site.

To create a new rule, select +Add within the Edit DRM policy window to populate the Edit DRM rule window. This window is divided up into 2 halves:
The recipient of the asset may on...
Publish the asset online: This rule allows the recipient of the asset to make the asset visible on their site. An asset without this permission will have the Do Not Publish box checked under Other/Miscellaneous Properties and locked against modification.
Keep asset beyond its archive date: This rule allows the recipient of the asset to retain the asset beyond its archive date. An asset without this permission will have its Delete Date/Time under Other/Miscellaneous Properties set to the same as the Archive Date/Time. Both properties will be locked against modification. If the asset does not have a value for Archive Date/Time at the time of syndication, no restrictions will be applied.
Resyndicate the asset to other sites: This rule allows the recipient of the asset to syndicate it to other sites. This Rule does not need a Condition to be added (on the right side of the Edit DRM Rule window).
Locally duplicate or export the asset: This rule allows the recipient of the asset to duplicate and export the asset. An asset without this permission will disable the Duplicate and Export options in the Search Results of the Asset Workspace.
Add own DRM policies to the asset: This rule allows the recipient to modify the permissions allowed on the asset when resyndicating to its own recipients. An asset will always retain its original policies when resyndicated. An asset without this permission will not have any additional policies added by the current site.
if it matches all these conditions..on the right-hand side.
When adding Rules, constraints need to be applied. Available constraints include:
An Embargo Time Period: This constraint delays application of the associated rule until a set number of hours after the asset's start time have passed. This constraint will only have an effect on the Publish The Asset Online rule. Enter a numerical value in hours in to the field.
The Recipient's Web Site: This constraint allows you to permit only specific domains to use the content, or to deny specific domains from using it.
In the dropdown, choose 'is one of' to add domains you want to permit to use the assets. Choose 'is none of' to deny specific domains from using the assets. Type the domains you wish to permit or deny in the Domain name(s) field.
