You can target an Ad to appear on a specific article by using keywords on the Ad and in the Article. You can setup an ad to show up generically or on specific articles only.
Note: Unlike Article Assets, if you use the # in front of the keyword, it will cause the Banner Ad to Not show up on your site.
Note: Keywords must be all one word (ie: Golf Tournament will not work - golftournament will).
If you want to set it up generically
A scenario for targeting Ads Generically would be for a community event (ie: Festival, Golf Tournament, Concerts, etc.) Using the keyword Golf, Ads with the keyword Golf on them, will show up on any page on your site that has the word, Golf! Keywords are matched if they are found in the Article Content, Title, or Section Name, or has the same Keyword(s).
To add in Keyword(s), go to the Banner Ad, go to Tags / Keywords and click on the Add button. Click on Save when you're done.
If you want to set it up for specific articles only
A scenario for targeting Ads Specifically would be for Obituaries, Artist in concert, Storm Damage, etc. An example would be you have an Ad for a restoration company and they want their Ad to appear on Stories that refer to Storm Damage. Using the keyword Storms or Damage would position that Ad on those pages with the matching Keyword(s). There are three Ad Positions you can use to target an Ad to appear on an Article Asset:
fixed-big-ad-top-asset: A 300x250 region near the top of an asset page under the first paragraph.
fixed-big-ad-middle-asset: A 300x250 region near the middle of an asset page (if the paragraph count is odd, it positions above the middle paragraph).
fixed-big-ad-bottom-asset: A 300x250 region near the bottom of an asset page above the last paragraph.
To add in Keyword(s), go to the Banner Ad, go to Tags / Keywords and click on the Add button. Click on Save when you're done.
In a scenario where you have two ROS Ads assigned to the same Ad Position, one Ad has a keyword and the other does not. The Ad without a keyword will appear on articles/pages like normal based on how they're assigned/set up. The Ad that does have a keyword will also appear like normal on articles/pages that match the keyword.
