What are Profanity Filters?
Profanity Filters is where inappropriate words are identified and used to check against user comments for inappropriate words or phrases.
This will bring up the Profanity Filters window. You can add/edit, import, test, export or delete the profanity filters in this window.
How to Edit a Profanity Filter
All BLOX CMS sites include a default profanity filter. As a best practice, we recommend editing the default filter instead of creating a new filter.
To edit a profanity filter, highlight the filter and then select Edit from the toolbar. This will populate the Edit Profanity Filter panel.
Disallowed Patterns
Within this tab, inappropriate words or phrases can be added or removed by selecting either + Add or - Remove option. In addition to adding single entries, inappropriate language may also be added via batch by utilizing the Batch add option nested beneath the +Add option.
Allowed Patterns
Within this tab, distinction can be made for phrases that are appropriate, yet contain some inappropriate element, such as proper names like Dick Dale or Dick Cheney.
Select Save to finalize your changes.
How to Export a Profanity Filter
To export a Profanity Filter, select Export from the toolbar. The filter will be downloaded as a .JSON file nested within a .ZIP file.
How to Import a Profanity Filter
To import a Profanity Filter that has been exported from BLOX CMS, select +New and then Import filter. Within the Import profanity filter panel, locate the file and specify a name to import the filter as.
How to Test a Profanity Filter
To evaluate a profanity filter, click Test within the toolbar. This will populate the Test profanity filter panel. Within the Text to filter panel, enter the phrase to test and then select Run filter at the bottom of the panel. Results will appear within the Resulting filtering text panel. Any inappropriate words that have been flagged within the </strike> class.
