You can use Google Analytics to track metering events, such as readers hitting the metering wall or purchasing a subscription. You can also track which of those come from social media.
Then you need to navigate to your Google Analytics page. The Real-Time Events section will show you Event Categories as they happen.
To see more details about a particular event, you will need to look Under Behavior, then choose Events and Top Events.
When you click on the tnt-metering link, you will be taken to this screen.
From there, you can choose to look at Wall or Wall Action. Wall will allow you to get a more detailed look at readers hitting the registration and subscription limits. Wall Action will show when readers have purchased a subscription.
You can also track what readers are being brought to your site via social media links, such as Facebook, Google Plus and Reddit. If you are looking to track more than one social media site, you will need to separate the sites with a comma.
In Google Analytics under Behavior / Top Events you will see a screen similar to the one below.
