This article is a guide to generating BLOX VMS MRSS feeds for distributing videos to third party applications.
BLOX Digital customers may wish to distribute videos to other third party applications. Some common examples include Whiz CTV apps, WSI weather apps, or other applications that ingest video content. Most providers can use MRSS feeds to either refer to or ingest and host, customer video content.
In order to obtain an MRSS feed that automatically updates when new videos are added to your BLOX VMS account, it is important to be familiar with the process of creating a Smart Playlist. By specifying categories and/or keywords in that linked article, you can easily create or edit playlists of particular videos.
Once you have created a Smart Playlist asset, open it. You will find a button called “Feed” near top right. Click that and copy the feed URL, this is the MRSS feed generated by the criteria set in the playlist.
(Note: you can also generate playlist feeds from Manual Playlists following the same steps, however keep in mind that Manual Playlists do not automatically update.)
The feed includes all available mp4 and HLS outputs available for a given video asset.
You can generate a JSON version of the feed by adding .json to the end of the URL.
You can generate an iTunes-formatted version of the feed by adding parameter ?itunes=y to the end of the URL.
