How Do I Find The Facebook ID For a Business?

When creating or editing a business in the Business Directory, you can enter in a Facebook ID so the Facebook widget to display on that individual business page.

To determine the Facebook ID for a business, navigate to their Facebook page and click on the profile picture. When the new page loads, the Facebook ID will be the string of numbers at the end of the URL.

As the Facebook application is regularly being changed, the way to find the profile ID number may change as well.  In addition to the profile picture URL, you may also find the ID on other links on their Facebook page. 

For example, the URL should look similar to http://www.facebook.com/pages/TownNewscom/98681439791?ref=ts#!/album.php?profile=1&id=98681439791, where 98681439791 is the Facebook ID.

The URL may also look like this:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.430876404791.223665.98681439791&type=1, where the third group of numbers is the Facebook ID.

The Facebook page must have fans who "like" the business. It cannot be an individual user's page. Not sure if it is a page or an individual user's page? If you go to https://graph.facebook.com/<insert id here> it will give you a list of information on the id. If there is a gender listed, then the id is for an individual user's page. Here is an examples of what it will look like if it's a Facebook page https://graph.facebook.com/98681439791. Here is an example of an individual user's page https://graph.facebook.com/train.moline.

To confirm you have the correct Facebook Profile ID, enter Facebook.com/profile.php?id=XXX (replacing XXX with the profile ID number.  If it redirects to the page you’re thinking of, then you have the right ID. That will work for profiles, pages, places, apps, etc.

Once the correct Facebook ID is entered in the admin, a widget similar to the image below will display on the front end.
