What are BLOX Comments?
BLOX Comments is where user-contributed comments are managed.
Interface Overview
The BLOX Comments interface consists of 3 panels:
Search terms: This panel contains a number of filters that can be set for locating comments that have been submitted by readers.
Search results: This panel lists comments that have been submitted. This panel will list up to 25 comments at a time, based on start date date. The paging tools at the bottom of the panel can be used for exploring older comments.
Application Settings: This panel consists of a number of panels that contain settings and options for adjusting commenting presentation, moderation and filtering options, Anonymous commenting options and Pre-URL settings.
BLOX Commenting Modes
BLOX Commenting consists of three modes: Comments, Guestbook or Reviews
BLOX Comments: This mode is set by default and works well with most Editorial assets.
BLOX Guestbook: This mode is set by default within Obituaries and BLOX Tributes.
BLOX Reviews: This mode is set by default within BLOX Businesses URL skin.
All three styles can be moderated easily in the BLOX CMS Comment Manager, in the assets themselves, or in an email sent to up to three comments moderators.
Additionally BLOX Commenting offers "threaded" commenting, (replying to an existing comment), and allows readers to "watch" a discussion, guestbook, or review. They can receive an email when someone makes a comment on the article or business.
Third Party Commenting Vendors
Other commenting vendors can offer publishing of comments to different social media platforms. This can be a great way for users to have more conversational "chats" rather than discussions (for example, Livefyre comments shows how many people are "listening" to a comment thread, which shows the level of interest).
BLOX CMS supports the following commenting vendors:
Facebook: Some media sites have moved to Facebook commenting hoping that commenters would be more responsible when posting under their real names.
The World Table: The World Table is an engagement and community commenting system with advanced features at no monthly cost. It will handle story comments, user 'scoring,' comment spotlights, a special comment section to highlight active threads, as well as user engagement features such as article surveys and ratings widgets.
Livefyre: Livefyre has been acquired by Adobe and the Free Version has been removed. The Livefyre Enterprise version has been integrated into Adobe's Experience Manager (AEM) software. For more information on Livefyre for Adobe Experience Manager (Livefyre Enterprise version), view the following information here.
Disqus: Disqus is a single user profile system. This allows you can click on a user and see all of the comments they have posted on all sites that use Disqus.
Use different commenting systems per URL
BLOX CMS allows you to set up different commenting systems on a per-URL basis. For example, you can feature BLOX Comments within all site sections, while Facebook Commenting is configured within political pages.
