Within BLOX CMS, assets need to be assigned (or tagged) with criteria in order to appear correctly within your site. This criteria is know as "tags" and come in the following 3 types: Sections, Keywords and Flags.
Sections
Section tags are used to assign content to a specific section(s). Section tags are the primary tag for identifying content and should be considered a requirement.
Section tag(s) can be added within the Sections panel by selecting +Add, then checking the sections you'd like assigned. We recommend that you choose the most-granular section for the best reader engagement.
For example, instead of assigning content to /news, assign to /news/local or /news/world.
If more than one section is assigned, the asset will resolve to the first section tag and will include that Section tag within the asset URL. Adding additional Section tags is beneficial and doing so will insure that your content will get pulled into any site content blocks that are looking for that particular Section tag.
How to add Section tags to an asset
To add section tag(s) to an asset, select the Tags tab and then within the Sections panel, select +Add. This will populate the Select Sections window where the Section tag(s) can be added.
Keywords
Keyword tags are secondary tags that are used for defining details about your content. Keywords should match what you would expect your readership to search for and should be declared as either a single word or phrase. Keywords will appear at the bottom of the content they're assigned to.
Keyword tags are also used for targeting content to specific areas of your site.
For example, a Chicago-based Sports site highlights all of their local professional baseball content within the /sports/baseball section. Chicago Cubs content and Chicago White Sox content can be presented within their own unique content blocks within /sports/baseball by assigning Keyword tags for all baseball content.
We recommend that content features at least 5 keywords for the best SEO.
Keyword(s) can be added within the Keywords panel by selecting +Add and then listing the Keywords of interest. Keywords that have been used previously will automatically populate as the letters are typed out.
The process of introducing Keywords can be automated by using the Suggest tool. The Suggest tool evaluates the written body copy and provides suggestions along with a Confidence rating. The higher the Confidence rating, the higher likelihood that the keyword suggestion is accurate and will provide SEO benefit.
Keyword tags can also be used purely for content targeting on your site, without the added SEO benefit, by adding a hashtag in front of the keyword, such as #White_Sox. Hashed Keywords will not display on the site and be available to your readership.
How to add Keywords to an asset
To add keyword(s) to an asset, select the Tags tab and then within the Keywords panel, select +Add. This will allow Keyword(s) to be manually entered. The Suggest Tool can be used to auto-generate keywords, while the Delete option will remove any selected keywords.
Flags
Flags are hard-coded classifications that are used for providing further definition about your content.
Flags work in the same way as Keywords in that they can be used for content targeting to specific areas of your site, with similar SEO benefits. Each Asset type features a unique set of Flags that can be assigned.
Flag(s) can be added within the Flags panel by selecting the Flag(s) of interest. To view the specifics of a Flag, hover over the name of the Flag for a concise description.
How to add Flags to an asset
To add flag(s) to an asset, select the Tags tab and then within the Flags panel, select the flags that you'd like to apply to the asset.
