Overview
Reuters has announced that their REST API will be retired at the end of 2025. To ensure uninterrupted access to Reuters content, BLOX Digital now supports a new Reuters GraphQL driver in the Syndication application.
- Existing Reuters REST channels will continue to function until retirement but will stop working once Reuters disables the REST API.
The new GraphQL driver is a separate option, not an in-place upgrade.
Partners must request new credentials (Client ID & Client Secret) from Reuters to configure GraphQL channels.
It is strongly recommended to migrate before the end of the 2025 calendar year to avoid service interruptions when Reuters eventually disables REST API access.
What’s Changing
Old Driver: Reuters REST API (still works for now, but will be retired at the end of 2025).
New Driver: Reuters GraphQL API (available now in BLOX Syndication).
Credentials: Requires new Client ID and Client Secret — old REST credentials will not work.
Migration Steps
1. Obtain New Credentials
2. Add a Reuters GraphQL Channel
Go to Admin > Syndication.
Under Application Settings > Channels, click Create Channel.
From the Driver dropdown, select Reuters GraphQL.
Configure your channel:
Save the channel.
3. Retire Your Old REST Channel
Once you have successfully tested the new GraphQL channel, disable or delete your old Reuters REST channel.
This prevents duplicate imports and reduces confusion.
Key Notes
Existing Reuters REST channels will not break when the new driver goes live in BLOX Digital.
However, Reuters is ending support for REST by the end of 2025 calendar year. Functionality could degrade after that date if Reuters deprecates endpoints.
Partners should migrate at their convenience, but before the official deprecation date.
This guide has been constructed by BLOX Digital in collaboration with Reuters to ensure all partners receive the necessary credentials and instructions.
