It also adds several enhancements to speed up certain actions. It also makes internal changes to enable the BLOX Total CMS plug-in for Adobe InDesign to translate assets using its new Budget View dialog.

And finally, it handles the overridden edits on inline child image assets in BLOX NXT.

BLOX NXT Inline Image Asset Override Support) BLOX NXT added a feature to support placing image assets inline and editing the Title, Credit, and Caption to be unique in the Inline Presentation. To force uniqueness in BLOX NXT inline content, users must check the Override slider when editing the Inline view. For years, the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign has supported writing back the inline asset’s position and attributes. We’ve extended it to allow some groundbreaking support for the Overridden attribute. When an inline asset has an overridden attribute, the frame for the caption of the placed image, if placed, will be set with the overridden values. Since child images are never placed with the Title, this effectively means that we can swap the inline asset’s Caption and Byline/credit values. In addition, to prevent write-back from the page, the frames for the placed child image assets are set not to write back when this overridden content is found. You can see this at BLOX Total CMS > Story Flow Options > No Export from this Frame. During write-back from the Adobe InDesign page, any edits to those overridden values are re-inserted in the inline asset’s display, but not in the child image asset itself. INDESIGN-4556

Faster Clone and Move with Assignments) The original version of Clone and Move would prompt for the recreation of all assignments individually. There is now a single dialog that will appear before the first cloning action. From that dialog, the user can decide in advance which assignments to recreate. If you want to control individual aspects of assignment creation, uncheck the displayed Select All checkbox, then use the manual BLOX Total CMS > Create InCopy Assignment... after the Clone and Move has completed. Change to Creating New Documents while in Remote Distributed Production Mode) The New Document dialog has a new option for Remote Distributed Production users. The new checkbox is labeled Reopen Remote Documents. By default, this is unchecked, which means that if a Remote Distributed Production user has a document open and it needs to be closed to safely create the new document, it won’t be reopened after the new document is created. This improves the performance for everybody using BLOX Total CMS, because it reduces what might be unnecessary traffic. It also speeds up the new document creation process as the user won’t have to wait for the existing documents to be reopened. INDESIGN-4554

Reduced Logging when switching Domains) To speed the change from one domain to another, we now log significantly less information. Users might notice a reduction in the time to initially log in to BLOX Total CMS and/or when switching domains with Open by Status. INDESIGN-4545

Layout 8000 Page Content Type Ranges) Client version 5.81 modified the Layout 8000 support to interpret the .GROUPUSED area of the .edf file to apply Page Content Types. Naviga XML Fillers) We had a site that requested the Naviga XML Fillers be treated as ads. The BLOX Digital staff can add a setting that will convert all Fillers in Naviga XML to an Ad from their normal state of a Block. Naviga XML Ad Color) During routine testing, we noticed that the assumed ad color for ads using Naviga XML was frequently incorrect. The ad color now tracks with the page color since the Naviga XML doesn’t supply a color for the ads themselves. INDESIGN-4537

Slow Line Finder Cleanup) We’ve removed a few more lines of user interaction from the Slow Line Finder. Previously, it flagged the time the user spent in the New Documents dialog. The Slow Line Finder is located at BLOX Total CMS > Settings and Support… in the Support (S) tab. Click the Slow Line Finder button on the right of the dialog and then follow the prompts. INDESIGN-4538

Page Zip locking change) While examining logs from a site, we discovered that the Open by Status function was making calls to lock the .zip versions of pages in Page Tracker, even though Distributed Production was not enabled. Without Distributed Production, the locking is unnecessary. It has been removed. This will result in slightly faster document opening and no fake warnings about the inability to open a document someone else previously used. INDESIGN-4543

Logging Change) In the past, when using Open by Status, excessive data was logged. This has been greatly reduced, and the process to display the Open by Status dialog and make changes to the display is now faster. INDESIGN-4543

Spawn Template feature to check for mismatched page sizes) The Template Master feature to Spawn Template now checks all the master pages for any page sizes that don’t match. When the issue is found, the user will be alerted, but the template will still be exported. INDESIGN-3090

Plug-in Availability Alert) Once every couple of hundred launches, the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign checks whether the user has the BLOX Total CMS plug-in installed. If not, the user will get an alert. INDESIGN-4090

Spawn Template to More Domains) The Spawn Template dialog’s Domains tab had an artificial limit to the number of domains it could show. That limit has been increased. On a reasonably sized monitor for pagination, we expect it to display 150 domains. INDESIGN-4531

Spawn Template Style Sorting) By default, the Template Master’s Spawn Template feature has attempted to sort the various types of Styles in the Master Document and Template. Unfortunately, Adobe InDesign’s default tool for sorting those styles doesn’t always sort all styles correctly when they are worked on via an .idml document - part of both the process of spawning a template and using Distributed Production. In the 5.82 version of the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign, the Spawn Template adds a Revised Sort option that, while it takes slightly longer, seems to survive the .idml stage better and thus keeps more styles sorted. Auto-placing Page Content Type Snippets from the BLOX Total CMS plug-in for Adobe InDesign) Previously, the use of the BLOX Total CMS plug-in for Adobe InDesign exported Page Content Type snippets was limited to sites with Automated Production enabled. The functionality works so well that we have enabled it for all sites. One of the major advantages is that you can simultaneously export a single Page Content Type snippet for use with as many publications and domains as desired. And, as a reminder, a Page Design snippet automatically becomes a Page Content Type snippet when its name contains the text of the Page Content Type, and a Publication Code is selected in the Export Snippet dialog. Dead Jump Change) Dead Jumps, the least effective method of jumping an article asset to another page, didn’t allow the use of a jump head that also served as a continued line. It now does. INDESIGN-4533

Clone and Move for Distributed Production users) The long-standing function to replicate page designs, Clone and Move, has been enabled for Distributed Production users. Previously, it was not an option for those users. Distributed Production users must have both the Source and the Destination documents. Since we need to know in advance whether the documents will be accessible, the Nearby and Find a document options will be disabled for Distributed Production users, but will be active for legacy users.
