Background
Starting with Page Tracker version 1.16 and BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign version 5.52.08-5 BLOX Total CMS output preferences can/should be stored in Page Tracker for disaster recovery and for use with remote Distributed Production users.
Who is this Article for?
This information described here is for a site's Template Master and/or thier Information Technology staff depending who currently configures and maintains their output preferences.
Initial Upload to Page Tracker
- While logged in to the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign, enter Development Mode. If you don't know how, you are likely not the correct person to be doing this task.
- Choose BLOX Total CMS > Development > Page Tracker Output Management > Upload Output Preferences XML...
That will return a status dialog indicating if the upload was successful.
The original output preferences will still be in its folder. Typically that is in the Output Preferences folder for your site's server/domain.
Subsequent Updates
As noted above, the original output preferences will still be in its folder after doing an initial upload. But because any user with access to Development Mode, including remote Distributed Production users, could upload a new/modified preference, you should not trust that the local copy is the current version. Thus, if you need to make changes, you should first download from Page Tracker. After the download, make your changes, and then upload the changed version.
Downloading Output Preferences
- While logged in to the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign, enter Development Mode.
- Choose BLOX Total CMS > Development > Page Tracker Output Management > Download Output Preferences XML...
The result of the download request will be an opening of the Output Preferences folder. In that folder will be a file named for your current domain. For example, it might be called: missouri_com_output_preferences.xml
But, in almost every case, you will now have more than one output preference file in that folder. And that is dangerous because the client will load the first one alphabetically. You only ever want a single file in that folder. So move the prior one to the Backups folder.
Edit the downloaded version (the one named for your domain), and then follow the procedure to upload.
