Subscriptions FAQ’s
Why are some of my Subscription numbers different from the previous instance of Data Insights?
In an effort to be more accurate and transparent of where data is coming from we are calculating some fields differently. Below are how prior Subscription numbers were calculated, the new Subscription metric and how it is being calculated:
- New Subscribers
- Prior System: New Subscribers = the number of non-renewal subscriptions
- Upgrade: New Subscribers: the number of non-renewal transactions
- Total Subscribers
- Prior System: Total Subscribers = the MAX number of daily subscribers within the timeframe selected
- Upgrade: Total Subscribers: total unique active subscriptions. This data comes from BLOX and shows the subscription services and number of users on them.
- New Revenue
- Prior System: New Revenue -
- Upgrade: New Transaction Revenue: transaction revenue collected in this period of new subscribers. This may include subscription purchases for the whole year.
- Total Revenue
- Prior System: Total Revenue = (daily value of a subscription service * the number of users on a service)* number of days selected
- Upgrade: Total Transaction Revenue: transaction revenue collected in this period. This is the total revenue amount processed upon purchase, regardless of the term of the subscription purchased.
NOTE: If you use a third-party circulation provider for subscriptions, the data you are seeing in Data Insights is only as good as the data you are importing into BLOX. Many times with third parties BLOX does not receive the rates associated with a service. We recommend you use financial reports from the source of truth (a system that collects the money) for your revenue.
