BLOX Total CMS is evolving to meet the growing demands for efficient multi-domain publishing workflows by introducing Cross Domain Clone to Share for Adobe InDesign.
The request for enhanced page-sharing has been recurring since the early days of BLOX Total CMS.
The first phase of the enhancement aims to enable efficient sharing of assets across multiple domains on an Adobe InDesign page within the BLOX Total CMS Client. The second phase focuses on refining page-sharing mechanisms, specifically for BLOX Digital e-Editions. The objective is to streamline the content distribution across various domains, ensuring a seamless and error-free publishing experience.
Advantages
Cross Domain Clone is an extension of the Clone and Move functionality that was introduced in November 2016 in the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign.
That original Clone and Move made duplicates of assets in the local domain. Sharing Adobe InDesign pages was easy for appliance-based BLOX Total CMS sites.
As our appliances reach the end of their life, we need a new solution for Hosted BLOX Total CMS sites, especially production hubs that build pages in multiple domains. The idea for the Cross Domain Clone tool was conceived there.
One of the biggest benefits of Cross Domain Clone is that it enables Adobe InDesign pages based on BLOX Total CMS to generate fully segmented BLOX Live e-Edition pages by utilizing assets that are native to each domain. This ensures that the immersive "River of News" experience is maintained.
How it works
Cross Domain Clone generally initiates the replication of assets using BLOX Site Tags. After replicating the assets to the Destination Domain, the Cross Domain Clone function can place them on the designated destination pages similar to the legacy Clone and Move function.
As more and more sites opt for digital versions of publications, the importance of this fact becomes increasingly significant.
