The BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy version 5.55.03-2 was approved for use by TownNews' Quality Assurance department on 12 January 2022. It is recommended for all Adobe Creative Cloud based sites. It may be downloaded using the adjacent link.
The goal of 5.55
This is the first of hopefully more frequent releases. This one has a couple of bug fixes and enhancements as well a multiple under the hood changes to prepare for Automated Production.

Esoteric Bug Fix in Ruleset Search) Since client version 5.46.01 there has been a bug in an esoteric function to search for rulesets. The ruleset search is used when the normal ruleset download fails because of an excessive amount of data or a timeout or some other error. The bug has been fixed. INDESIGN-3583

Related Content Write-back has been Disabled) Client 5.53.21 added support for the write-back of related content items (fact boxes, info boxes, pull quotes, etc.). Unfortunately, a bug in BLOX CMS’s support of those items caused them to be removed from their parent asset. To prevent this from happening, the write-back of related content has been disabled in the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy until we know that the BLOX CMS issue has been resolved. 5.55.02-1 released 2021.12.22
Bug Fix for Image Statuses) Changes in client versions 5.50 and 5.52 caused one or more of the Image Statuses shortcuts to break. Thus, a user might have had some of those menu items or the keyboard shortcuts for those menu items fail. This has been corrected. INDESIGN-3560
Day of the Week Numbers for Folios and Output Naming) There are a pair of new Folio Text Variables, W4 and W5, that contain numbers for the day of the week. W4 uses 0-6 for Sunday-Saturday and W5 uses 1-7 for Sunday-Saturday. These can be used in print, or as is more likely, with a validate name script for output naming. These values only exist when the publication is configured in the browser-based Page creation settings as a Daily publication. INDESIGN-3567

Open Recent Returns for Non-Distributed Production Users) A prior version of the client removed the Open Recent menu item when a user logs into BLOX Total CMS as either a Local or a Remote Distributed Production user because Open Recent is incompatible with those modes. However, a subsequent log in as a Normal user didn’t restore the menu where it can be very helpful. Now, if the menu has been removed and a user logs in as a Normal user, the menu will be returned and set to the last 12 documents. Note: Because of the way Adobe InDesign works, not BLOX Total CMS, you will have to open 12 documents in Normal mode for the menu to be fully populated. But the menu should exist with the last open document as soon as you have opened the first document. INDESIGN-3570
Multipage Spawn Template Bug Fix) The Template Master function to Spawn Template had a long-standing bug affecting the creation of multi-page templates. While not recommended for editorial content because of the increased risk of document corruption, many tabloid-based publications use multi-page documents because of standing ads or PDF-based content. Unfortunately, if the Master Document had the requested number or more pages, a series of bugs resulted in the produced template having just a single page. This has been fixed. INDESIGN-3574
