What are gift subscriptions?
Gift subscriptions is a new user workflow that allows Audience+ partners to sell gift subscriptions for holidays. Purchasers identify the gift recipient and can specify a future date when the gift should be sent via email. It comes with a new application in Subscription that allows partners to manage gift subscription purchases and redemptions, resend gift emails, and export users.
How do I set up gift subscriptions?
Gift subscriptions setup is unique, and requires Audience+ and use of 1-page purchase. See the setup document here.
What are the requirements for gift subscriptions?
Use of the new Gift Subscriptions feature requires Audience+ and 1-page purchase, with transactions going through BLOX CMS. Premium Credit Card Management is also required. This feature is not available to Subscription Pro or BLOX Audience customers, or partners using 3rd party circulation systems for purchase (such as Newzware).
Do users need an account or a subscription to purchase a gift subscription?
No. You can purchase a gift subscription without being a subscriber or having a user account.
Do users need an account to redeem a gift subscription that someone else purchased?
Yes. They will be prompted to create an account or log in when they redeem the gift subscription.
Can subscribers send free gift subscriptions?
No. These gift subscriptions are paid. If you’d like to give away free gifts, you can use a Free service type.
How do I redeem a gift subscription?
The easiest way to redeem a gift subscription is through the gift delivery email. This is sent to the recipient after purchase, or on the day the purchaser specified, and will include the redemption code in the url. You can also visit the website and enter the gift code manually.
If someone is a subscriber, can they redeem a gift?
No, subscribers cannot redeem gifts. The gift subscription can be “re-gifted” to someone else by forwarding the email.
Are gift subscriptions refundable?
No, gift subscriptions are not refundable through BLOX Subscription. Unused gifts can be sent to another user for redemption. If you need to refund the amount charged, please do so through your payment handler.
When a gift is purchased, is the payment method charged immediately, or later, when the gift is redeemed?
The payment method is charged when the gift is purchased.
I don’t see gift purchases in the main Subscription admin listing of accounts. Where can I find gifts that have been purchased?
Gift subscription purchases are managed in a separate area until they are redeemed. In BLOX Subscription, click on the gear to open application settings. Click on the Gift Subscriptions menu, then click Manage Gift subscriptions. You’ll see a dialog that shows all gift purchases and whether or not they have been redeemed. In this area, you can also resend gift emails.
If someone forwards the gift subscription delivery email, can multiple people get a free subscription?
No. Gifts subscription codes are unique and can only be redeemed once.
Will you be developing a gift-an-article feature for subscribers?
Article gifting is an unrelated feature on the roadmap for 2024.
